Passion project aimed at reducing food waste on UNC Charlotte's campus by raising awareness among students and highlighting the existing efforts of Dining Services to minimize waste. The initiative encourages mindful consumption and promotes sustainable practices within the campus dining community.

Two banners promoting sustainability and food waste reduction on campus, along with a digital screen displaying "Associate of the Month." One banner highlights recycling fryer oil, compostable napkins, and composting 173,816 lbs of food. The other focuses on minimizing food waste with an 83% landfill diversion rate.

Reduce is a campaign to reduce food waste on UNC Charlotte’s campus. To be able to implement my designs on campus because of my internship with Dining Services made the project even more meaningful to me. I designed napkin holders, posters, TV screens, fabric tension banners, an informational rack card, stickers, fridge magnets and got to redesign the sustainability page on the Dining Services Website.

This project allowed me to raise awareness among students, faculty, and staff to reduce food waste on UNC Charlotte's campus and highlight the existing efforts of Dining Services to minimize waste.

This issue is close to home as I have worked in the restaurant industry since I was 16 and have seen firsthand how much food is wasted each day. At UNC Charlotte, with a community of over 31,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff, small efforts towards reducing food waste can make a large difference. And by building these habits, we can spark lasting changes that extend beyond campus and into households.
